School of Rock – Day 10 – Community

SUMMARY

Write your daily summary last, at the end of the day here… Only one to two sentences. – AND THEN DELETE THESE WORDS!

LEADERSHIP ACTIVITY

  • We figured out a song and started deciding who will do what in the project.
  • Remember to also add an entry to your Goal Page underneath your goal statement.
  • Create a heading titled, ‘July 12th Work’.
  • Write one descriptive paragraph detailing WHAT YOU DID and LEARNED today
  • … AND THEN DELETE ALL THESE WORDS!

PRACTICE ROOM (GUITAR LESSONS)

I watched videos 17-19 on Justins free lessons.

What I learned was a good way to learn a chord which was to put your fingers on the strings, make corrections, tell yourself that is the correct way to play the chord, and repeat.

CLASSROOM (THEORY & ANALYSIS)

LAB (THEORY PRACTICED)

  • From the video I watched today I learned:
    • To find the amount of music you need you multiply min x bpm / beats per measure = number of measures you need.
    • How to make a simple chord progression into a more complex one
      • Two techniques
        • play with the quality of the chords / try t use more complex sounding qualities without compromising the chord progression
          • One way is to experiment with making chords into sevenths
        • Focus on the flow of the progression
          • Making sure we are still using cadence properly
          • Remembering to do things like connecting bass lines
          • Making sure the chord progression is coherent
      • Don’t start off too complicated because more complexity can be added later.

OUTSIDE (CREATIVITY & THE BRAIN)

STUDIO (SONGWRITING)

During this time I worked on Trello for our collaboration.

CONTROL ROOM (RECORDING & MIXING)

From sound trap tutorial 5 I learned that songs like stories, have rising action, climax, falling action and resolution.

Soundtrap still isn’t working.

WHAT I LEARNED and PROBLEMS I SOLVED

  • Tell your daily story here!  Highlight what you learned and enjoyed most and at least one problem you solved. Problem-solving is one of the most important skills you need in life. Employers want to know HOW you get stuff done as much as WHAT you got done – AND THEN DELETE THESE WORDS!
